Hello! I finally figured out how to post here, thanks to the help pages. We have done chickens before and had a farmers market egg business, but had to move. Several years later now and we want to have chickens again, but I have a hankering for quail this time, as I really love the eggs. I've always had a hard time eating what I raise, so I am really hoping to get over it and learn to enjoy eating quail. And since I will invariably be hatching quite a few males and don't need too many for breeding, it seems a waste to not eat them. I recently posted an answer to someone about hatching some eggs. I have a brand new incubator that is warming up as I write so I can put my brand new Coturnix eggs in it tomorrow and hopefully hatch out some babies. I'm so excited. I made plans up for a hutch based on looking at several styles, many on this site. I've never built anything like this before and my husband is itching to help me, but I want to see if I can do it myself with him as a stand-by resource. I also bought a ready made one as a backup plan, but if all works out I will need at least 2 anyway! Wish me luck! I will post my progress....
