New Hampshire!

I have 7 one week old Bourbon Red turkey poults available if any one is looking to get into turkeys or add to their flocks. My flocks are NPIP.

Would these be ready for processing before Thanksgiving? I dream of raising my own turkey for T-day.

Unfortunately no these ones wont be ready by Thanksgiving. Easter dinner time frame sounds more about right for these poults. Heritage turkeys take longer to mature and should be hatched by early May at least to be the right size for Thanksgiving, earlier than May if possible. My personal batch of turkey poults that I am raising for my freezer as well as for customers are already 12 weeks old and will be processed the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

If you are looking to get a turkey or 2 to raise for this years Thanksgiving and/or Christmas you should look for heritage poults that are already about 3 months old or older or if you are looking for the more commercial variety you can start now with day old Broad Breasted variety those only take 16-20 weeks to raise and they get huge. I know a feed store that carries the BBW and BBB.

I am very interested! I had an issue with my incubator and only have 3 babies and I was hoping for many more!

we are NPIP tested but we only have the card (good in the new england states)

if you want the whole deal there is more to it


we called up the state & made an appointment

the inspector arrived on time with a folding chair & a little table (the test was done outside)

she sits in the chair as you bring each 6 month or older bird to her

she draws blood from under 1 wing of each bird

each bird gets a numbered metal leg band

a couple weeks later they send you paperwork with the test results
