New Hampshire!

i'll probably take a couple of my best cockerels to the Rochester, Sandwich, & Acton fairs

after that i'll probably be looking to sell them off

i might also take a muscovy duck or too also

Hi Masully19,
I use HiFiber Gold horse fodder for bedding. It comes in plastic wrapped bales. I sprinkle PDZ over it and I clean my coop once a year. I have poop trays with PDZ under my roosts that I clean daily. Once a week I stir up the bedding with a hay fork to fluff it up. I use the same in my nest boxes.
In the sumer I use the black rubber bowls available at the feed store. In the winter I use heated dog bowls available on line at Amazon.com. I feed Poulin layer pellets to my hens and Blue Seal grow and show to my non-layers. All my birds have coops and large covered runs with 1/2" hardware cloth sides (in the winter I put contractors clear 6 mil plastic on the sides to keep the snow out.) The runs all have polycarbonate clear plastic corrigated roofs. I have every predator NH has in my back yard. I have Bantams that don't like wind or rain.

Large coop has 21 bantams 19 hens and 2 roos
Medium coop has my batchelor roosters 7 and in a separate area with 3 Marans 1 roo 2 hens
Small coop has 3 Silkie hens, 1 Sizzle hen, 2 Millefleur D'Unccle, 2 8 wk old Ameracuna pullets that will move into the large coop in Sepember.
I don't use extra light during the winter.

Above picture is last winter the second of 4 storms. At the end of the last storm there was 3.5 ft of snow on the run roofs. Nothing collapsed.

Good luck with your chickens.:)

I love your coop design, Brookliner. I have some corrugated metal I was going to use for something similar for my ducks. When it snowed that much, I had to go dump the snow off their run to avoid collapse. :(

Did you build them from plans?

I'm still debating whether to make a really solid fixed duck house or a tractor so I can have the duck manure spread around more. They definitely need a better roof for the winter, though.

Hello I am in need of giving away two roosters they are really friendly. If you dont want any could you reccomend any feed stores that could give the roos away fast? I'm in the Nashua Manchester area. I really need some advice please!!

Listing them for free or at a low price on craigslist often works. Make sure you list the breeds and include pictures. If they are old enough and you are not against it there are places to have them processed, I have contact info if your interested. If you don't eat your own chicken, you could always donate the meat or sell it.

Also list them right here on this thread, again with breed, age and pictures, someone might be in need of what you have.

They are both almost 2 years old but i have no idea what their breed is because I got them from a straight run. Also my siblings are against having them processed for food so i cant do that but thanks for the offer though.

Its time to start thinning the flocks before cold weather comes. I have Cream Legbar available. If there is anyone local to me (SNH) that is interested in obtaining new stock of Cream Legbar or just a few egg layers of blue/green eggs, I will be rehoming roughly 9-10 point of lay pullets and hens as well as 2 cockerels and possibly a cock. PMs are welcome for more information.
