Thanks for including the driving!!! I upset parents because I make my mini kids where helmets doing in hand jumping, all it takes is one trip as the horse comes over the fence, those little hoofs (and fat mini's) can still do quite a bit of damage.

and I have really bad grammer, sorry....

I would be dead, as would both of my sisters several times over with out helmets. in fact I kept the last helmet to show people who fuss about them exactly what my head would look like if it had hit the concrete without a helmet on. I should run and take a pic of it

I guess it's ok that they are allowing the national FEI tests to be ridden in a snaffle, but I don't actually think it's going to benefit the sport as a whole.

The double bridle requires riders to train better and ride better because it is such a 'kimono-opener'. Any shortcoming in training is more obvious in the double.

One has to work diligently on the horse that doesn't have enough of a connection in order to get him in go well in the double bridle - this makes it easier for people to slough that off.

Good heavens, I can't even imagine not requiring a helmet driving - without a helmet, driving is a population control device, competitive carriage driving - that war wagon weighs about 1200 lbs, I think, and is being pulled by 1, 2, or 4 1200 lb horses, That's....that's a lot.

"I can't see dressage riders wearing a helmet".

Well, you are about to, LOL!!!!

And to be honest, I know very few dressage riders who don't wear a helmet. There are some FEI riders that are older, that I think just can't get the habit.

But even of those FEI riders that I know who don't wear a helmet on their own older FEI horses that they've worked with for years, sometimes decades, they generally put one on if they get on an unfamiliar horse or a youngster.

The FEI riders have the option to wear a tophat when they are doing their test, but there is no option in the warmup!!!!!!

When I rode/worked at a small ranch, I was in the habit of wearing a helmet ... until they started laughing at me. I didn't wear a helmet for years until after my daughter was born. That was the time the ranch sold out and I moved my horses to the TWH barn ... where everyone wears helmets. Peer pressure can work in good ways too. I'm so relieved I'm at a barn where everyone wears one and sets a good example for the kids there. Even though most people just trail ride on their gaited horses and don't even canter.
