New Jersey

The zoning regulations are so strange. I'd double check about the rules where you live in Lakewood. There's so many areas in that town that have livestock. Some of the rules just don't make sense. Shadowrabbit and i live in neighborhoods that are as residential as they get and we are allowed to have them. Strange thing is we're about 2 miles from each other and she can have twice as many as me :(

Oh i almost forgot- our poor chickens are so cold. I went out to visit with them today and they kept alternating what leg they were standing on :( They have a heat lamp in the coop and scott just went to buy a second bulb since it's supposed to be even colder tonight. Their water keeps freezing too so i'm hoping with the extra heat it will be enough to stop that from happening. They haven't ventured out of the coop for two days either. I don't think i'll even open it tomorrow since they're not coming out and maybe it'll keep a little extra warmth in. They're each still laying an egg a day though. Poor chickens!

Then you have to find out exactly what the ordinance says, in order to file the correct petition repealing it. Perhaps we can help better if we had the whole story.

My big girls seem to be ok. They do stay in the coop a little longer In The AM, but I still see them going in and out. The you get ones seem cold. They insist on staying outside during the day, huddled up. They won't go inside to get away from the wind. I gave them extra hay to lay in, hot oatmeal at breakfast and warm water three times a day. A few more days of this.
