So I set up the bator. Kahlua I got the humidity/therm you recommended. I have that in there with a homemade water wiggle with a probe in it. So is that it? As long as the temps range close to 100. I plan on doing dryer humidity (40-45%) and about. 60 at hatch.

If anyone nearby has any turkens or Easters eggers, let me know. Even if you plan to order from a hatchery, I'd love to tack on a few so I don't have to order 15 or 25! I was hoping some turkens hatched from my eggs but no luck! I should have some turken mixes hatching from eggs this coming week, but I know how my luck is with roosters. Also, they are so cute as chicks so i would love to have a few more (I swear, I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch!) Ultimately I would be looking for a few pullets if they are older but don't mind straight run chicks.

I have such a hard time finding turkens around here!
I might have a few turkens in a few weeks (I ordered a pile of birds with a friend, but I am not sure how many I will keep). Also, I can make you EE/OliveEggers if you want. I have a blue wheaten roo over blue wheaten hen and a mixed brown layer flock. Should result in some colored egg layers in the F1 cross (I think, still new a the genetics of all this).

Yep you should be all set! I let mine run for a few days to be sure the temps held steady and I filled it with eggs for a test hatch. I am expecting some shipped eggs next month so want to be sure everything is good, so nothing goes wrong with those!

I hatch at lower humidity, about 20-30%. Not everyone does but it seems to be very popular - you can look for posts on "dry incubation." I am certainly not an expert, but the posts were convincing for me :)

Oh - and I wouldn't necessarily assume the EE's are all girls - ALL of mine are feathering out that fast, I would think it'd be a fluke if all are girls.

Thanks for the info. I will read up some more and am letting it run for a few days to get comfortable with it. Sooo, what kind of eggs are coming in the mail

Some Cream Legbars and Swedish Flower Hens. I may also try to organize some Orloff eggs at the same time. I should probably stop - I have too many as it is! LOL But I haven't had a problem selling my extras, and it's the right time of year. And my husband has agreed to help me build another coop - so I'm going for it! LOL

Quote: You can order the VetRx from anywhere - even the local stores may have it. I think TSC carries it, but call first. You can eat the eggs with that, and the garlic. I can't imagine that the garlic would bother you, unless you're very sensitive to it. I know people say the eggs can have a garlic flavor, but I don't think it would happen with just one clove. (Bummer about your allergy - I can never have too much garlic!)

To give the drops, I clamp the birds between my legs, then grab her top beak right at the corners of her mouth with my hand coming over the top of her head. Tip her head back and kinda pry the mouth open. Sometimes you have to maneuver another finger in there to open her mouth up. It may take you (both of you) a couple of tries to get it down. Have the bottle open and ready to go. It's a little squeeze bottle, so you can do drops from that. Use the same technique with the garlic. Once her mouth is open, just shove it in. (I always forget which side is the esophagus and which is the trachea, so I just look it up before I do stuff like that, just to be sure.) When I had to do throat swabs for Delmarva, I had a friend help me - that's more of a two-person job.

I always try stuff like this before doing the antibiotics. Sometimes it's just a sniffle, and it hardly takes anything to get rid of it.

Thank you for your help! Can I ask what TSC is? :) lol way back when I went to Trenton State College (when it was still called that) so that's what I think of when I see TSC :) I would also rather try those things first rather than meds...feel the same way with my kids too :)

Oh and yesterday morning she was bubbly in one eye and in the evening no bubbles! Fingers crossed she is getting better :)
Thanks again!!
