In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Brand new to chickens! Just bought 4 chicks on March 16th, built a 4x4 brooder in a week, then bought 2 more on March 31st!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
6.
(3) What breeds do you have?
One Amberlink, Two Buckeyes, 1 ISA Brown, and 2 Welsummers
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Don’t know yet, they are still inside,
Enjoying watching them interact with each other and the family. Especially fun watching our Morkie, Trevor, trying to watch/play with them (or eat them, not sure which, lol) through the top of the brooder (which is secured by hardware cloth).
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, golf, biking, hiking, running
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share
Family of 4, (wife and I, plus a daughter and son), plus 1 morkie dog , 1 dwarf rabbit, and 1 yellow bellied slider turtle. Occupation: Syatems Engineer
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Just found it by browsing, looking for info/advice on building a coop!
Looking for any and all advice for building a coop/run. We have space, but looking for tips on what works/doesn’t work. Especially with respect to predators in northern Maryland. And hot/cold weather extremes. Looking to build low maintenance/easy to clean digs for our new flock!
