Aw, how kind of you to take them in. Welcome to the flock!

I was planning on getting some chickens once we moved in, our house is under renovation so this is sooner then expected and we are completely unprepared. They are loose outside, I live 2 hours away from our property so the contractor working on our house is feeding them and he has a coop coming soon for them. It is sad that the neighbor released them like that and moved.

I wouldn't be surprised if more show up at your house if he let his flock go. Once they know they are safe and there is food they may come around your new place. Thanks for taking them in and giving them love.
That's fine by me. Once I move I'm checking with local rescues to see what's out there for adoption. I do want young hens but I really want to make sure I only get hens since I do think the Rhode Island Red is a young roo.
