New Neighbour Learns Hard Lesson

Don't get me wrong. I do feel bad for having to humanely dispatch the dog. But I would feel worse if something were to happen to 1 of my chooks. I normally don't give warnings at all. I've been through this scenario too many times in the past, but since it was a puppy, I went out of my way to make sure the owner's were aware of the situation. Once through animal control, & a second time by returning the dog myself.

How many chances am I supposed to give?

Anyway, not my problem anymore, I'm sure this won't be the last predator I have to deal with this year.

Normally I don't think an argument would follow, but my OWN PERSONAL OPINION not that of anyone else is this: When a post is put up like this, and the animal has done no more damage than to sniff around the chickens, the person posting is hoping to stir everyone up. When it happens, then they can deal with it. I admit by posting our responses we are egging them on, and I've tried very hard not to do that lately, but when someone is so happy about getting back at those new neighbors by killing their dog, I have to say something. If the dog had broken in and killed a lot of chickens, I could see this kind of response to it.

The bible also says "for every thing there is a season.... a time to kill and a time to let live"

David defended his sheep against lions and bears and HE WAS A MAN AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART!! God even used those very skills to defend Isreal against the Philistines. So He is obviously not against defending our livestock... it is our GOD GIVEN RESPNSIBILITY!!

This was obviously a time to kill as sad as it is. LCRT did not do it unjustly or rashly or inhumanely.

Thank you, LCRT for defending your girls. You can sleep peacefully tonight knowing they are safe.

If you actually read my other posts, you would see that I'm not happy about ending the dogs life.

I post these type of things evry year. WHY????

To try and educate the irresponsible dog owners out there. I don't care if the dog was curled up snoozing on my back porch. Result would be the same. What I did was totally LEGAL.

Hey All,

If removing preditors is legal in the area which the person is acting to protect their chickens, and the person acts legally, then there isn't really any room for debate.

If the original poster is looking for other people's opinions on what they did, then they would have asked.

With that said, we won't tolerate any personal attacks and will simply remove this thread. This goes for EVERYONE posting. If you get attacked or flamed on a thread, don't reply with another attack, report the flaming / trolling and we'll take care of it.
