When animal and owner control failed me, I relocated two dogs. It's a shame that the owners not caring cost a dog who was doing what comes naturally his life. Next time shoot the owner.

Is relocating 2 dogs, really relocating or were they put into the ground? I think taking them away to some obscure dog kennel is a great idea, I would take the time and the effort to make life miserable for the owners of the dog, not the dog!

Your tag line says what would Jesus do.....Well Jesus wouldnt have killed the dog...

Around here, Animal Control normally will return the dog without fines on the first offense if it has tags & is registered. They know me quite well, after dealing with me going on 8 years. I had 1 neighbour who racked up thousands in fines, had taken him to small claims over vet bills where he was ordered to pay restitution, but I never saw a dime.

The dog was at the door to my house, where my chickens live in the mudroom. As long as I state I was protecting my poultry under the livestock act, they don't really care what happened. I've dispatched more than a dozen dogs over the years, & pretty much everyone in the area knows what happens to pooches who show up here.

I'm sure the neighbours won't remain clueless. It's a tight community around here, & I'm sure they will find out via the grapevine.

As for "just" alternatives, I guess I could have used my bow, but I once had a dog run home with an arrow in it's head, and expire on the owner's front step. Now that was "unjust" as the owner wouldn't return my arrow. Beeman carbon graphite arrows with razor broadheads are worth around $25. What a waste of a perfectly good arrow.

I called our local sheriffs office when we were having problems with a neighbors dogs. The sheriff said that if you catch someones elses dog on your property they will come and shoot it and you will then have to dispose of the carcass. The main thing is if you relocate someone elses dog you have just become a thief and stole thier property. That dog was better off being shot then to run and become injured or hit on the road since its owners have no concern for its wellfare. You do what is needed to keep your animals safe. I was lucky enough that the neighbors have taken care of thier dogs and they have not come back. Jenn

I literally relocated the dogs Cheryl, I took them into the next town to the animal control office where they were put up for adoption. I don't believe in taking an animals life because the owner is stupid. As humans we are supposed to be caretakers, not just punishers.

I am not a husky fan but he is a dog and will act like one. Maybe you should shoot the owners instead or better yet since obviously it was friendly enough could have turned it over to a husky rescue instead. Guess next time one of my cats gets a baby chick maybe I should just shoot him instead of blaming myself and making sure the pen is more secure. Better go shoot my dogs now as they annilhated 5 chickens last year.
There are better solutions in this world but guess violence is always the answer. I guess I am just burned out from animal control dog bites someone and oh it is always the dogs fault never the owners or the person who is bitten and who pays the price for stupid people the animal, never cesses to amaze me. Oh well just my 2 cents even though its never worth anything:)
