Hello all! I am a new chicken owner. My mother has always had chickens and we finally bought a place back in November to where I could get my own! Problem is, I have no clue what I got. My mistake was telling my 4 year old daughter once we got a place to have chickens, we could get them. Well, she reminded me as soon as we walked into Tractor Supply and walked out with 5 chicks 🤦‍♀️ She did the picking and I did the paying. That being said, I have no idea what she got. The only one I know something about is the 6th one was given to us and is half silkie. Now that they are older, I figured it would be easier 🤷‍♀️ Is there anyone that can help out? Also, I have a feeling 4 and 5 are roos?????

Looks like mostly Easter Eggers. Pretty birds! Not sure on gender. How old are they?
Thank you! I think she did a very good job in picking them. I am not sure the exact age since I got them from TS, but I got them the first of March. So 5 weeks maybe?

I would guess #4 and the one in the last pic with your daughter are cockerels. Were they out of the straight run bin? She did a good job. EEs are the best, I'm positive you have at least 3 EEs, but I would guess they all are.

That was my guess. I tried to number them to make it easier. #4 is the one she is holding. I guess the best way to find out for sure is when they are old enough to crow 🤣 Thank you so much!!

Yep, no problem! EEs are mutts basically so they come in many variations, which makes them all so unique! Oh, I didn't realize that they were the same, lol. Crowing is the best way, but its fun to guess. Let me know how they turn out! :)
