That came out really NICE! I think it looks better than your original plan.
Sometimes it's just meant to be! What are you going to use on the back? That's always a problem for me......or I just use plain muslin fabric, which I like anyway. I'm working on a queen size quilt for my daughter.....16 blocks done, 9 more to go, I think!
I think "Angie" is really three people as I have no idea how she runs her family, helps here, runs a blog, writes, cooks, takes care of that Gone With The Wind house??????????????? Plus raise poultry??? I know she isn't just one woman. I tried using her as a mentor but no way could I keep up with her.............oh, AND she learned to use a Blackberry Storm!! NO easy feat!!
I have seen some really nice pieced backs here lately at one of the quilt stores. They are all sizes of material like a jigsaw and then some are done in fat quarters. I found that they look like the quilter had just as much fun on the back as they did on the top. I really liked the look. Kind of like a double top. Hope I explained that right.
Edited to add very nice, but then I knew it would be. Congrats, I have to get busy I have 2 ready to quilt and bind and 1 star top to try and get done for Christmas. That's after I get the ceramic orders I have to get poured before Christmas done. Which is done between watching everyone's kids LOL. Where has the time been going.

ok, so is your pillow topper piece part of the whole quilt or separate? That is so unique. Amazing, I wish I had your talent.
As to the carpal tunnel, DO THE SURGERY! I put it off for so long and had it done. No tingling, no numbness, I LOVE it. Lost a little of my gripping power but not enough to need a man to open my jars. LOL
