New puppy!! DNA test? What do you think he is? UPDATE on pg 7

I'd guess Weim or Dane. I've seen lots of 'unusual' shades of blue in Weims; some are almost tan, ranging to almost black. Pretty dog

Just looked at that site. Almost made me want another one, but haven't had one in decades.

As far as my big dogs these days I'd like to get at least one more Cane Corso and we had always wanted a blue. I have a black brindle.

I love blue dogs and Danes have some of the nicest blue.

Pits can carry the gene for full prick ear (which is what his ears will be), though it is a fault in the breed, so he could get his ears from the pitty side. Our other pit mix, Casey, is the sweetest dog and the absolute best with kids. Of all of our dogs...especially babies. Pits get a bad name because some people raise them for the wrong reasons since they are so strong. But, when raised properly (like any family dog should be) they are great dogs!

Now I am really looking forward to getting a DNA test for him!!

Hes probably older than yo think. Puppies start losing their baby teeth around 4 months old. Their canines, which are usually the last to come in are around 6 months old.

I would say pit or pit cross. He just doesn't look big enough to be dane.

This is what I was going to say. If he has already lost some front teeth he is at least 4 months old. 28lbs wouldn't be huge for 4 months so I doubt he will be a huge dog. He sure is gorgeous! I love blue animals in general!

I thought dane... possilby the parent could have been like a dane/lab mix and the other parent a pit/pit mix.

The legs do not scream dane to me at all, it was just the ears and longer face that made me think it could be in there somewhere. But I'd say you got an awful cute mutt, and wouldn't bother with the expense of a DNA test.

Blue is a dilute of black. My CC male was a blue brindle. I love that color!
