OMG, I think these dogs are amazing! And I can't help laughing at the hair-do's. If I am ever in a position to get a dog again, I hope it can be a GP. You must be having a blast!

We have a 4.5 month old GP Named Jackson and he is puppy, but very loyal and he also is a perimeter trained puppy, he does his job very well at night like he was bred to do and is all puppy during the day. Jackson loves to use his giant paws to hug our legs and is always ready to be petted. Our GP is around Chickens, Turkeys, Geese, Duck, Cats and pony and handles them all with fierce protection against anything that is strange to our property. I couldnt have been blessed with a better LGD.

I've noticed that they grow very fast.

I swear Oscar looks bigger when I let him out of his kennel in the morning than he looks when I put him to bed the night before. Crazy!

Too cute. Hard to remember when my two girls were that young. They turn five on the 16th. They are sisters. One I've had since she was 8 weeks. The other I got a year ago when the breeder decided to place her in a pet home. She just didn't do well in the show ring and the breeder felt she would do better in a pet home than a kennel situation. Now Louise gets to play with the goats and bark to her hearts content at all the predators (leaves, dust bunnies, dogs barking on tv, etc.)

This is Samantha (aka Sam) pretending she is a couch potato.

Our local shelter has a male GP 4.5 years old who has been there off and on since Christmas. He has been returned at least twice. His biggest issue is separation anxiety so he needs a home with experienced owners who are home and can work with him. Poor boy. I would love another pyr but am not in a position to take on another one with issues.

we've had 3 only 2 at the moment our male Hank 3 and a female puppy 12weeks. as far as training its 100% natural some obedience training is helpful. they guard what ever it is they bond to so the more time they spend with your animals the better night time is when they do thier work when I go out after dark I have to let him know I'm there he has come at me before if he dosen't see me walk out the door but always stops when I speak to him and waits to be petted. the younger they are when introduced to your animals the better. be patient both of my older dogs started at 5 or 6 months working seriously and never turned back but it was like they started overnite puppy today guard dog tomarrow. I had problems with stray dogs at one time and when they come into the yard he would play with them and take off with them very frustrating. to the point I was gonna give him away but I talked to a friend before I did he said he thought the same as I did until he talked to an older fella told him thats what they're supposed to do when they go off like that they return by themselves after watching he was right I have no idea what goes on but its true for mine.

we had beagles also at one time when I let them out to run the would cross the creek to run in a cut over on the hill side I could see them from the house Hank would sit at the edge like he was watching over them neat to watch.

loyalty and protection of your family is unbelievable and mine watches over anybodies children they love kids.

Our puppy is five months old now. He weighs somewhere around 50lbs and is quite tall/long. He's started to bark quite a bit, when he thinks there is something to bark at. He's very kind and loving with me. He loves to go for rides with my hubby.

He did sort of pick a fight with our Blue Tick last night. I was not very happy. The Blue Tick is very possessive of her food and the puppy thinks that every scrap of food belongs to him. The pup doesn't like to back down with other dogs. He tends to be submissive but for some reason he has never been too fond of the Blue Tick. Anyway, when he didn't back down after she snapped at him she decided he needed to really learn a lesson. They didn't hurt each other and we separated them immediately. It was still enough to make me mad though. It was my husband's fault that the situation came up to begin with, so it won't be happening again.

Other than that we haven't had any problems. He's a very handsome and healthy pup that we are very fond of. We still need to get an invisible fence so we can let him roam the yard. I'm curious to see what he'll do once that finally happens.
