New San Diego County Oridnance On Number of Roosters

Where is the 50' thing? I need to be able to reference when I go for signatures....because I think this is what will get more people to sign that don't even have roosters.

The 50' thing is already law and has been for some time. Might be better not to argue about that in the meeting so they don't consider our arguments invalid to the issue at hand. But it's ok to mention it to others to help them towards signing the petition

The 50' rule is a city of San Diego rule, not a county rule. Each incorporated city has its own set of rules and it is not always easy to find what they are. The rules for the unincorporated areas depend on your animal designator code and you can find them here: http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/dplu/docs/444.pdf

The
county's most restrictive animal enclosure setbacks are 15' from the side lot line and 10' from the rear lot line. I can't find anything that says it is different for poultry.

The 50' restriction we are now discussing is part of the new proposal restricting the number of roosters you can have. There are several new restrictions with this proposal, one of which is that any poultry pen must be 50' away from any residence, including your own. This is an ordinance affecting those people living in the unincorporated areas, though many cities are expected to follow these regulations as well.

I see, I didn't know it was not a county rule as of yet. When I researched I suppose it was San Diego "city" ordinance as well as mine here in Santee.

I did drop off information to a few feed stores here in East County about the new Rooster ordinance and asked them to sign the online petition and pass it on. None of the stores had any idea this was going on, this is how quiet they have kept things.
One store noted that they would no longer be able to order "straight run" because they will lose business if people are too worried about getting roosters. They won't be able to sell chicks anymore unless they can guarantee pullets. There was also concern about loss in feed sales etc. less roos = less mouths to feed and less babies mouths to feed.

I posted the link to the petition on my facebook. posted about the ordnance on both KSON & Nwe Country 95.7...will repost with the link today.

Start canvassing the neighborhoods, but this is going to a long uphill battle.

Update: My husband hasn't finished the translations yet. Unfortunately, he has a huge exam for his degree on Saturday and he had to spend most of yesterday studying for the exam. But he got most of the translations done, but needs to fix grammer, etc. He said he can finish it up tonight after he gets back from his job. Sorry it couldn't be done any faster than this. The second its done, i'm emailing it out to BowmansBirds.
