New San Diego County Oridnance On Number of Roosters

Quote:
Yes, actually it does. If you have more than two roosters on anything under a half an acre you're in violation. I breed silkies and OE Bantams. The two roosters I have for each breed is more than I'm allowed to have according to the ordinance. Anyone who's legitmatley breeding or trying to preserve rare breeds will be affected by the ordinance.

A lot of my neighbors do not speak/read English - where can I get at least enough info in Spanish that I can talk with them so THEY understand this affects them, too? There is a house on Montgomery, just off So Santa Fe that has some small breeds, just 3, I think, righ next to their housr along the street. They do NOT have anywhere on their property where the birds can be placed 50' from anything. My hope is to reach out to enough of these neighbors to make a difference.

Another neighbor off Clarence has the most adorable and enviable playhouse (English cottage, no less), and their house is so close to at least 3 others that there is no way that is even 50' from all three of them.

Rooster or not, this will affect ANYONE and EVERYONE who has even though of getting a chicken.

My husband can translate anything into spanish correctly - he is a native speaker and studied spanish at college. (Literature, writing, everything) Let me know if we need him to do something like that.

Yes, please!!! I'd like to start canvassing the neighbor hood tonight, but know that's not possible until I get some sort of literature. I was going to have the children help make signs to post and then get notices to thefeed stores.

Has anyone contacted ALBC??? Maybe their attorneys can draft a stay for now??? ANYTHING TO HELP!!!

Hey RHRanch I can send you a copy of the petition as well as the little letter I wrote about the ordinance itself and then maybe your husband can translate it for us?

and a little blurb I can read so there is more of an understanding (laymans) as to why it's important - really would love something about the 50' too because I know for a fact that will impact a lot of my neighbors heavily.

thank you so much. OK the children and I are going to get busy making posters!!!
