Oh you hit the nail on the proverbial head there! Some of them are definitely are full of themselves for sure. That said it satisfied the initial hyper fixation and I learned a bit as well. Glad to be here though since I can read and ask questions as I raise our featherheads :) thank you for the welcome!!

Some things that ARE important.
Remember the heat is much more harmful to them than cold. Plan coop accordingly depending on your climate.
I was trying to find article on requirements for chickens so here goes from memory.:
Run= pen 10 SQ ft per bird. Coop=house 3-5 sq. ft per bird.
Roost bars 10 - 12 " per bird.
Nest boxes ( always place below roost bars 3-4 birds per box . (That one surprised me)
Ventilation 1 sq ft per bird. They're breath and poo builds up moisture and ammonia that's harmful and causes frostbite on combs. There are folks on here from up north that never heat coops and have ventilation 24/7.
Good luck with your flock and enjoy them.

Thank you for info we will incorporate it into the plans! We have a older outbuilding that was once a coop at some point long ago before we bought the house. It could house three times as many birds as we want/need (why do I suspect chicken math will get us at some point??). The plan is to section off part of it replacing boards as needed pulling down all the old chicken wire and putting up nice sturdy hardware cloth. There is a nesting box on the ground we are taking out and my husband is building me two new ones off the ground and putting up some roosting bars. My pack n play brooder with a heat plate is ready to go! We are excited!
