New to here from Upstate South Carolina

Yeah, but Beverly, at least we got a good rain last night!
I let the young chicks out at about 6 pm and they had a blast in the wet grass and drizzle.

But the poor Araucana laid an egg during the downpour beforehand and she was right under an opening. I would have thought the silly girl would have gotten in the nest box but I guess she is still so new to us she didn't realize. Oh well, it's always a toss up if they will hatch anyhow.

Sure feels cooler outside today anyway.

Welcome friend! I am from NC, but just got back from SC last night. I made a journey down to Hilton Head, for 5 nights! It was a blast!

PS: Nadine we had to drive through that awful storm and almost got hit by a tractor trailer!

Hey there cmcgoun. I am sooo jealous. I would love to go down there and spend sometime. I need to plan a get away for the family soon. lol

Nadine... What rain? I didn't see a bit of that rain. lol. I saw lighting and heard the storm but it went right beside us and I didn't even get a drop. I did get a little rain out of tonight's storms. But mostly they went past me again.

. My poor garden is in need a a good rain.

I hope we will get some more soon. We need it really bad.

OMG! I, too am so jealous! Hilton Head is wonderful! But then, I love any of the coastline in SC and NC!
I am glad you didn't get hit by that tractor trailer. I hate driving the hwys but know that is the only way to get somewhere. Back roads take forever to travel any distance.

Bev, no rain? We got half inch and then last night another half inch. I thought you lived close enough you might have gotten the same storm. Some is better than none, eh?

Haha I am glad we didnt get his as well but I nearly went to the bathroom in my pants! Yea hilton head is great and best of all we got to stay at a great resort hotel for free! It was for my dad conference for NEI (He's a nuclear enginner) It was a resort that charged $500 a night! I would love to go back there but Im afraid it will cost wayyyy to much!

My favorite place on the coast to go is Charleston. There is this little inn that we love to stay at. It really is just for couples. So we really love that. It is called the Elliot's Inn. Spelling that wrong. But is right now King st. and is jus the best place for couples.

I wish I had got some rain. It did a little last night. But I still had to water the garden.lol. We need about a week of rain. But when it rains, hubby don't work. And that is not good.

Time to go to Greenville and tractor supply in Greer. Got to get chicken feed and meet up with the mother inlaw. lol. I have the best one in the world. Great lady.

Have a great day!!!

aurorabev, my dad was from Charleston and my greatgrandmother had a house on King St. I have the bill of sale for it when she passed in 1945. It was sold for 10,000 dollars, I wonder if it is still there.

I can pretty much tell you it is. And I am sure that the owners would love to get their hands on that bill of sale. They have to keep all houses the way they were first build. Right down to the color. To change it you have to jump throught so many rings you will start thinking you are a dog. hahahaha. The historial group down there keeps a close leash on everyone and everything that happens to those houses. And God forbid you have damage and you don't fix it. They will take the place. Most of those houses now are worth a pretty penny. Ok now I want to go. hahahahaha. The best thing about how they are. Is that they make Charleston such a wonderful place to visit and the history of it all is the best. I am a history nut. hahaha. We homeschool so just getting to go somewhere like that is a field trip. hehehe. The boys really like that part.
There is a web site for charleston and I view of King St. I bet you can look on there and find that house still there. Happy looking!

Bev,
I know what you mean about taking the kids on a field trip. We used to take our vacation during school days so the crowds would not be too long.
Oh, how public schools hate for you to take your kid out for a week but every vacation was a history adventure for us. Charleston is one of DD favorite places. So much to see and do. Not the water parks or such, as we don't do that sort of stuff but the museums and historic homes are fabulous. We plan our next trip to be of Patriots Point and Fort Sumter. I haven't gotten her there yet.
Just got to find a chicken sitter for that trip!
We are going down to Charleston this coming Sunday but only to pick up some Barnevelders. We won't get to stay long enough to do more than enjoy the wonderful salt air.
We need to plan a chicken meeting down there so we can all enjoy the beauty and talk chickens.

That would be great. Now find someone to sit for us both and we will make a weekend of it. hahahaha. Someone who will work for eggs.
