New York

I'm in Brooklyn baby!! I just got 3 chicks this week. I know of 2 other families in my neighborhood who keep chickens. I love these little girls and spend way too much time clucking over them.

Thankfully I don't have roaches to feed them!! They are only 6 days old anyway, so I think roaches would just scare them at this point.

What kind of chickens do you have? I have 2 EEs and 1 silverlaced polish.

None, I'm moving to Saugerties in (checking time) 19 days. Where in Bklyn are you? My sister is in Kensington and my brother in law is in the Slope. I wish I could get a stealth coop for my sister!!!

Hens are legal in New York City, so your sister could get chickens. I'm in Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens by the Bergen stop of the F train. The hood has gotten quite fancy while I've been living here (nothing to do w/ me. lol). I know of at least 2 others who already have coops in their yards. Keeping chickens is the new black!

Congratulations on your move. I dream of moving out of the city and having some actual land to have a veggie garden.

Sure! I keep telling her to get a dozen or two to live in the apartment to eat all the darn bugs, but diapering them is a little daunting. *sigh* Seriously, she has no yard, so chickens aren't an option. Otherwise, yes, I knew they were legal.

I'm going to post to the meat forum also, but wanted to make sure to put this here.

I'm placing an order for color (freedom?) rangers for the end of August to be delivered to Saugerties (near Kingston) NY. If anyone wants to split an order with me, it's cheaper for everyone!

Hello to all my fellow NYer's...and those in the 'burbs'. Spencerport, NY checking in, just west of Rochester...or like we say it Ra-ches-ta. Been raising chickens for going on 7 years 'cept poultry impaired right now due to a racoon. We'll fix that once the weather gets ready to break.

Hiya Cowboy Joe. I'm In Bergen!

This cold weather we are having is awful on my feathered friends!

Sorry to hear that you are chicken impaired now... Higbie's will have chicks soon though, like you said!
