Hey from Indiana!
Just a bit of background. We have 2 pekin ducks, "Carrot" and "Ester" who/whom rule the yard with 'tude and 1 golden comet princess, "Bella". A neighbor complained about our beautiful barred rock rooster crowing, so "Chiggers" went to live on a nice farm where he is king of the hill! Unfortunately our last chick was only 3 months when a raccoon found the only void (we thought was filled) between the chicken tractor and the ground and took our "Buck". We had no idea a raccoon could contort his front leg/paw in such a way to get our little bird. Our girls are urban divas but they have to share the yard with 4 bee hives, 1 lab mix rescued dog, (we just lost a sweetie dog) and a 60 lb. boxer grand-dog that visits. The main reason we decided to raise chicks and ducks was for the pest control, giant tiger slugs, UGH! Which they have taken care of! Now, the girls are just so cute/demanding, comical/noisy, sweet/messy all at the same time that it will be hard to lose one.
