Now see this is why our yard is fenced in front AND back, we have almost an acre so while not a small yard its not huge either! The front is in white picket, and the back is mostly 4 foot chainlink, some 5 foot chainlink and then we have started buying a piece of privacy fencing when we have the extra $$ (this week that went to my chick addiction) lol we have so far gotten 8 pieces and started on the side of the house with the neighbor we like the least and off we go lol lol lol

I would let it go one or maybe even 2 times,but after that I would SSS.More times than not it seems like talking to a neighbor about a problem with them,or involing police/AC seems to escalate problems with the neighbor. Hope you get it resolved. I still miss the thousands we spent on our fencing,but I love it that animals can not get into our yard.

What about calling someone, getting the laws for your area concerning dogs at large/livestock and mailing it to them, with a NICE letter explaining everything that you have told us, and let them know that you do NOT want to hurt their animals but that you will NOT allow them to hurt YOURS!?

I just built a huge livetrap. This way I can get up close when doing the SSS. I have too many problems from neighbors dogs or other varmits doing their best to killing my pets at my place to worry anymore about it making my neighbors angry. They can either keep their pests home and away from my animals, or their pests will face the consequences.

I have quoted the local animal control laws...maybe they need to SEE it. This is just so frustrating! I want the entire yard fenced eventually but I don't have the money with DH laid off and our only income being unemployment and egg sales. It is currently IMPOSSIBLE. I can't afford to lose an animal or ten. These dogs are massive, and could take out the entire population in about a half hour easily. I can't take any chances with them being over here. They have been here yesterday and late last night creeping around the rabbit cages. It won't take long for them to get the gumption to enter and play....they look like big pups..I'm going to have another chat with the neighbors this afternoon face to face and I may just make an enemy but they have to know I am serious. Time to end the nicey nicey with them.

Go over there and tell them that their dogs are creeping around your place at night.
You have contacted the Sheriff's department and they have advised you to shoot the dogs.
If the dogs are not kept off of your property you will shoot them because they are not restrained and are now considered a threat to your animals.
Tell them that you keep your dogs to your own yard and that you would like it if they did the same.

I wish I had a nice electric fence to loan ya! I LOVE mastiffs but not if they were after my animals!

I feel for you on the money troubles, I dont work, and DH's hours have been cut from 60 to 50 to 40 down to what he has been working for a year now at 32, so we have gone from him bringing home about 700 a week to just over 400 a week! I am not complaining though because as I tell him at least he has a job!

Have you said to them directly that you will shoot and kill their dogs if found on your property? If your sheriff said to shoot them, then i would think that would cover you for any liability.
