No. Calif. Chickenstock June 5, Kelseyville! memories and pics, p. 42+

Well, I plotted it all out, and it does look like the east bay area is central. There are the two that are much further north (near Oroville and Susanville) and the two that are much further south, (Central Coast and Frazier Park), and some that are foothills.
Lake Del Valle does look good because it is near freeway routes for everyone - both the south and north folks can get near there on Highway 5.
There are some good campgrounds there, and a lot of nice grassy open areas.

thanks for doing so much legwork on this!

What is everyone else thinking? Is this workable?

I don't think we need to pick an exact location right now, but I agree that the East Bay (somewhere between Brentwood and Fremont) is the best bet to get the best turnout. I think this would help us get a lot of peeps that would probably come from SF, Oakland, Berkley, San Jose, etc.

So, my suggestion: Let's decide that it will be in the East Bay(ish) area (how about within a 20 mile radius of Danville) and as we get closer we can choose a more specific location. This will give us a bit of flexibility while allowing peeps to decide if they can make it or not and help with planning a date and time.

I'm on the Monterey Bay, center.

Easy highway access sounds like a good idea!
I5 is ok for me, I'm an hour from that

eta: oh i think i know where fremont is, and hghway 680 and 24 and stuff

Hello all! I was part of planning the 2004 Chickenstock and we had it at Del Valle lake. It worked well and even thought it was hot day, nice and breezy right by the lake. I would love to participate again this year and meet some more local peeps. a little closer to the bay is Lake Chabot, which is also a nice choice, but not as close to I5.

Ciao for now,
Maureen in Oakland

Sounds good to me. There are a lot of East Bay Parks, so we should be able to find one with space available as long as we do not use a holiday weekend. I am open except for August 14 & 15.

My daughter and I would love to attend. We are in Santa Cruz area but don't mind traveling. Just not as far as susanville LOL

I'm thinking we will get out the map, and draw a radius around Danville, like Nifty suggested. We'll see what falls in that area, and try to pick a place that will be accommodating, but not terribly expensive.
