No one around here wants to do the dishes

If the kids don't wash their dishes, I amazingly never have time to wash their clothes. I'm too busy washing their dishes.

Amazing how much work a teenager will do for their clothes to be clean and presentable.

That stops working when the teenager does their own laundry.

Omgosh, I can't stop laughing, that's hilarious!!! Once had a teen nephew come over to my house to ask to borrow a spoon. He had plenty at his house but didn't want to wash one...so over the mountain and through the woods to Aunties house was much easier?! ROFLOL

If I don't do them they won't get done... ever! I once waited to see if my husband would help out with them, for 5 days

My then 8 year old tried, bless her heart, but I had to go back and rewash about 80% of them. That is when I learned if I want them done I better just add them to my list of chores or they will never get done

My mom used to threaten us with taking away all the bowls, plates, and utensils except for one for each of us. Luckily she never had to, but I'm sure that would have worked very well! Or hide a plate and bowl for yourself and just use that.

My almost 21 year old son JUST came out and said:

"It is officially a weird day in the kitchen, there are no clean spoons and we are out of milk"

(I just got done loading the dishwasher with a sink full of dishes he pulled out of his room and left in the sink a few days ago.....)

When I suggested he buy milk and wash a spoon, he shrugged and headed down the hall with a bowl of milk dampened cereal and a lament that he was going to have to suck it down.

That is why the dishes are to stay in the kitchen or dining room.

I also know my 14 y/o eats in her room while doing homework, but since she washes the dishes right after she's done, I will pretend I don't know that.

With my old housemates, washing dishes was like pulling teeth. We finally had to make a schedule. Twice a week, a team of two would do ALL the dishes. This alternated of course. I went through a stint though when I refused to wash any of the dishes and just cleaned my one set of plate, bowl, cup, and silverware over and over for myself so I'd have something to eat off of. What did one of the housemates do? Went and bought paper plates and plastic utensils. Apparently washing dishes was too hard. Hilarious thing was, if my team got overwhelmed by the numbers of dishes and left a few to do the next day, one of the other housemates would flip out about us not doing them. We were, just in stages, including all the new dishes. But you know what? If we pointed out that they hadn't done all their dishes (and left it more than just the next day), I'd get my head bitten off. She was definitely an angry person, and never wrong
