the chickens in the mudroom.

Lost power last night do to a ice storm. No work, due to power being out because of ice storm. No school.. same reason. Moved the chickens into the mud room so they are safe.

gave them food and water for a few days. Packed up the dog, the one rabbit I cant leave alone and the kid and went south to my moms house. She has power=heat.

Right now they are saying it will be a few days before we get the power back on. Which means the chooks are in the mudroom til then. since fixing the coop is going to require tools beyond a hammer.

Ugh! I am so sorry!! I cannot imagine what my mudroom would look like after the chooks were closed in there for a few days!

Dept of Health would condemn it!! I am glad your chooks are OK and you had somewhere to go.

Oh no, I'm so sorry as well. I lost my whole flock one night about 4-5 yrs. ago when a huge pine tree fell on my coop during a tropical storm that blew through here. So glad your chooks are safe. Praying all will return to normal for you soon.

that was another reason that I moved them into the mudroom.
The branch that hit the corner wasnt even that big and didnt hit the coop full on. But the one RIGHT ABOVE the coop. If that falls it will crush it and my girls will be gone. I cant have that, so they are in the house til this is passed and I am not longer worried about that tree

I have sent DH and all my nephews your way hope they put your power back on soon.
I'm on the southcoast it is almost warm here. but very windy and supposed to get cold tonight but I have wood stove so even if I lose power I'm good. lonely though with DH gone.

I also got that storm. I was lucky enough to have no branches damage anything. A couple big ones on the goose pen, and some on the silkie pen. Then a big branch just missed my other coop by 2 feet, good thing or the coop would have been crushed. Good Luck,
