None of my eggs hatched *update on page 4*

I had the water wiggler always at 99.5,

I've never used a water wiggler, so I'm definately outta my league, but I thought I read a post that said the water wiggler showed what the temps were INSIDE the egg (approx 103) and the temp of the bator was 99.5. I'm not 100% sure, but if so, then it might take some extra time for them to hatch. Just a thought.

Me too! I am frustrated with not sure if I see something moving or not, and my eggs are so dark (marans)!!! I have decided that I am also going to stop candling every day and wait until day 18 (4 more day) and see if there is something in there before they go to the hatcher.

Sorry about your lose, but I think you candled to much, plus I am not to sure about the carton thing. I have never seen a mother hen with her egg upright.

I candle at day 10, and remove any witout veins. I then candle at day 16 and from there they are on their own. I keep the troughs in the incubator full of water and do not use cartons. I keep them on their sides as the mother hen and just roll them a little quit a few times a day. I may lose 1 egg out of a dozen. I do not worry about humidity and mist my eggs 2x's a day with lukewarm water (spray bottle).

If you want to try some mutt eggs, before you buy more expensive I will ship you some COD, which you pay upon arrival.

If so, email/pm me and I will get them shipped today before the post office closes. These are todays batch of eggs.

So sorry to hear this.

Thanks everyone. I will be keeping them in for as long as I can, with out them rotting. I will be sure to keep a close eye on them, to make sure none of the rot.

Hmm, I'm a bit confused here. Are you sure about tilting the incubator probably not helping? Seems that the eggs would tilt just fine if the incubator was tilted. I just set my soft drink bottle on my keyboard and tilted the keyboard back and forth....sure appeared to shift the cola inside the bottle from side to side.

I am really sorry. Hopefully you just have a delayed hatch. I do wonder about the temperature. I have never used the water wiggler, but I think there maybe something to it, if the inside of the egg is 99.5*, what should it be? Should it be higher? I just finished a hatch this last weekend, and it was the best hatch I have ever had. And the only thing I did different was I only candled them one time on day 9. I had planned on candling them again on day 18, but circumstances prevented it, so they were only candled once the entire time. I REALLY think this makes a huge difference in hatches.

tilting the bator was fine...candling everyday slight obsesive but most of us are...also invest in two different thermometers...that way you have a double check back-up that your temp is right. Had a buddy that "set the temp" I borrowed the 'bator after he failed a couple hatches...he was off a couple degrees

Seems that tilting the incubator with cartons inside would be just about the same as tilting the carton and I have seen many folks on BYC post that is what they do... the only problem I recall is someone mentioning that the temperature would be lower on the low end and high on the uppper?
