Like here in SD, because some people are involved with illegal activities with roosters, the county made it so you can have hardly any roosters. That's ridiculous. What is this kindergarten?

Now Suzy, because you ran with scissors, now the whole class has to go without scissors. Now, what did we learn class?

This is astonishingly incorrect.

The English Bull Terrier and the progenitor to the Pits separated way back. The Pit Bull progenitor is the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. This dog breed was brought to America very early and was bred up in size and used as an all around farm dog. This became the American Pit Bull Terrier. Bull Terriers, American Bulldogs, and AmStaffs are NOT American Pit bull Terriers.

The American Pit Bull Terrier is it's own distinctive breed and is registered with the United Kennel Club. The American Staffordshire Terrier is registered with the American Kennel Club.

Back in 1936 the AKC opened the stud books for AmStaff registeries. The owners had to prove and have paperwork for 3 generations of pure breeding, with nothing else and no other breed thrown in. And yes, at this time they were Pits. There has been over 70 of mostly breed separation and the UKC has ceased to allow AmStaffs to be cross registered as APBTs. You used to be able to register an AmStaff as a Pit with the UKC, but not any more. The breeds have diverged enough and can no longer be crossed registered.

Australia recently banned Pit Bulls in there country, along with AmStaffs. The AmStaff parent club in the US sent a letter at the request of the Australian AmStaff National club specifying the differences between Pits and AmStaffs and why AmStaffs should no longer be considered an APBT. Australia overturned the ban on AmStaffs and they are now allowed in the country, from what I understand.

I believe connoform was listing all the breeds IDed by the public as pitbulls, which includes all the breeds listed and anything that they think 'looks like" one

Deerman, did you know that Truckers - people who professionally drive trucks - have more serial killers in their profession than any other profession? FBI confirms it. There is a small percentage of truckers that kill a whole lot of people. Does this make all truckers bad? No. ANY trucker could kill somebody, but only a small percentage choose to. Doesn't make all truckers bad.

Sorry for mangling your name. Rofl

That ios the scariest part of most proposed BSL. "Any dog that looks like". Now, people think my german sh epherd is a coyote. They think that my 85lb male weighs 110+

On my GSD forum I frequent there is a pemanent ongoing thred "what has your dog been mistaken for". The answers would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad. Answer range from lab to malinois to doberman to fox.

Are these the people that we would want deciding things like this? After all, these are the people who report what kind of dog bit them.

I have had my dachshund mistaken for all kinds of things: Cavelier King Charles Spaniel, Poodle Mix, Beagle Mix, Cocker Spaniel, etc. People are bad at identification of breeds of all kinds.

one of the funniest things was at a pet store somone has a beautiful great dane, and some girl came up to me and said "I wouldn't go down that Isle, some guy has a dog the sise of a BEAR and I bet it's mean D:"

SO I walked down the Isle, SWEETEST dane on the planet, I found up that girl and said "you ain't seen many bears, have you? :3"

point being, it's been proven that people have a hard time identifying a dogs breed from a distance, even I do, on the breeds that look similar (I can't for example, tell a pug from a bulldog from a distance), things like that, but once I get up to it I can tell what it is.
