North Carolina

Doing lots of baking for an office party tomorrow..and the pump is out again. Grrrr.

But, molasses cookie dough is chilling in the fridge. Pecan pie bars and English toffee are cooling on the table. Blackberry/raspberry custard kuchen is next, then roll out and bake the cookies. Then try not to eat all this stuff for supper!
Just a thought from a old farm boy here, could you have a leak in the riser pipe? This is assuming you have a jet pump setup and not a in-ground/submerged pump.
Good luck!

Scott

Does anyone know of a link to Rocky Mount city ordinances? The one on the city website doesn't actually list inclusions and exclusions that I can find. I'm digging here right now: http://library.municode.com/index.aspx?clientId=11483

I am just finding it hard to believe that there are houses on acreage that won't allow chickens. To be fair, this is the first time she's ever been asked to find a property based on the ability to have chickens, lol.

Thanks,
Tikki
{also looking for info on local homeschool email lists/groups............}

A late Good Morning, Everyone!

Busy day today and behind the times. We had to replace the tank on the pump last night, but all is well this morning. Exam day, so off to torture my kids!

Enjoy the day!

OOhh...if you find out any, please share!! I don't know if you know this or not, but there is a website called homeschoolfreebies and they offer free classic books (in PDF format)...ones that were taught back "in the day" - when there was just one schoolhouse/room. Love them!! Any particular homeschool "stuff" you are looking for? I'll keep my eyes open more, so I can share if I come across anything. We still have a few years here before "officially" starting as NC doesn't require you to register your child until they are 7!! I do NOT want to think that far into the future. LOL. AND...WELCOME!! :)

Hollow - I LOVED exam day...okay, I really just LOVED the fear and wild panic look that would spread across my students faces when they knew what I had in store for them....perhaps it's best I no longer teach OTHER peoples' kids. LOL. Have a great day!!

Duck/chicken/guinea news: They have all been on lockdown over the weekend as punishment for Donald Duck roaming into forbidden territory. Not only ONE but TWO (distant) neighbors came by to inquire about our duck.

Our "not so friendly who's actually quite friendly" neighbor stopped by to let us know that our duck poo'd all over their carport (which we immediately offered to go clean up), but she was happy to have him there as he was picking all the bugs out of her flower garden. LOL She said he was welcome to visit any time so long as her husband wasn't home (he wanted roasted duck for dinner) and he kept eating the bugs in her flower garden!! LOL. Sweet lady!! I think I need to bake her (or maybe her husband more-so) a goodie bag!! We'll see how they do today...hopefully no more bad reports from him.
Have a great day everyone...I'm off to cuddle, it's teething time. You'd think they'd just pop through already...sheesh!!

rain is ending here today and it is getting down in the high 40's tonight. I think a nice wood stove fire will feel good.
Don't you love it when a pullet starts to lay? My marans is laying now. Such pretty eggs, deep brown with darker brown freckles.

The buff orp, delaware, EE and NH were already laying. New layers are always so pretty. Have a great day everyone. Gloria Jean
