Almost as dramatic as Sprightly!Cats can be vicious, but most of the time it's because they think they're going to die.
She thinks everything is out to get her. Including earthworms, which are just terrifying, little snakes.

Mine haven't tried minnows, but Dougie is a big fan of anything vaguely edible- earth worms are a big favourite for her. Sprightly is just.... different. Lol.That is too funny! My big duck's absolute favorite goodies include earthworms and minnows. Actually my bigs and littles go a bit crazy over earthworms. Oddly enough, they've never been a fan of peas, like most ducks I've read about. I've only got one duck, out of around a couple dozen, that likes peas and she's recently become obsessed
How are your beauties doing today?

She knew her sister disliked it and was trying to save her the torment! They are plotting against me.
I grab Spright to give her a second dose of calcium, and I put my syringe down for two seconds while I open her mouth ready.
Dougie sneaks over, grabs the syringe and takes off! I had to get it back!

As big a heart as she has, I imagine it's the latterShe knew her sister disliked it and was trying to save her the torment!
Either that, or she wanted some of that special 'treat' too!
Let her have a taste of itAs big a heart as she has, I imagine it's the latter
She's always trying to get the calcium thinking it's some kind of fancy treat....

Actually, I have! When Spright would knock the calcium tablet out of the treat, Dougie would pick it up and chew on it, trying to figure out if it was any good. She'd eventually give up, but as you can imagine she is WAY easier to trick. Food obsessed.Let her have a taste of it![]()
I was probably talking about her poop when she had an egg to lay- when they get uncomfortable they drink lots of water and stop eating, so end up pooping a lot of wet watery poop.I havenāt read through your full thread, but at one point you mentioned that you thought her poop might be runny. My ducks all had runny poop, then I started probiotics (Hen Boost) and itās made a HUGE difference. The other thing Iām trying is worm and mite management with putting diatomaceous earth in their feed. Itās not hugely effective in getting rid of worms, but it can work as a preventative measure. I hope Sprightly recovers well. Hereās the article I mentioned in my thread about making a duck go broody: https://www.tyrantfarms.com/why-and-how-to-make-a-duck-go-broody/
Good luck!
