Transferred some wildlife to another rehabber today and she asked me if I would take a hen she had gotten from animal control. I said sure...whats one more?? This scraggly thing doesn't look at all like my girls did as pullets. It also sounds like a peacock when it screams and is very mouthy and feral. I'm leery to add her to my chickens and ducks since I'm not even sure shes not some weird gamebird or just some chicken ive never seen, because I haven't seen that many! The skull just looks very angular to me and loooong legs. She said the bird had very few feathers when she got it in and has improved. She had it in with a roo that came in but passed away. It was in with a quail and a tortoise. Maybe its confused LOL

She appears to be an American Game Hen! Oh, what a find...

I adopted a Whitehackle Game hen two years ago. She kept appearing in my back yard, I was so afraid of her. She growled and screamed at me when I tried to feed her. She looked like a little T-Rex, she even had little spurs! I contacted the folks at MY PET CHICKEN, and they said I should not be afraid of her. That she is still a chicken and I should give her a chance. Well, I did just that, after a 3 week ordeal trying to catch her, having her get attacked twice by night predators, and finally having a neighbor find and trap her. She became a very precious member of my flock.

She has turned out to be the most sweetest little plucky hens. I wish hadn't of wasted those weeks being afraid of my "Riki Tiki".
