Hi, looking for guidance on breed, age and sex.

That is a definite girl. When did you get her? I assume she doesn't lay eggs yet or you would know she is a hen, so likely under or about 6 months old. Looks very close to laying, or already laying. Now this breed guess may be way off, but I'm going to say a Silkie mix because of the black comb and wattles. Maybe mixed with a Polish or something. I wouldn't take my word on the breed though.

Hi everyone! I was watching my neighbor's 12-bird coop and this tiny 2-lb bird took sick; they're not too interested in vet bills for chickens, so I brought her to my house, put her in the bathroom hospital room, started her on an antibiotic, system detox tincture, avo probiotics, yogurt, scrambled egg, etc., I had on hand from my own last sick chicken go-round and the bird rallied in 5 days, I stopped the antibiotic at 7 days, bird relapsed, have started again on amoxi and am crossing my fingers. Owners want to call the knacker, but I'm not giving up.

We're trying to figure out the beat up appearance of the chicken, too, then I remembered that when I had put this chicken in with my flock of 4 a day or two after the bird recovered some, my lead bird immediately

approached this chicken, and they chest-bumped in mid-air and it all dissolved into wings and feet in a New York Minute and I had to intervene. I've never seen that behavior before.

Then my neighbor said, you know, the tiny egg I thought was that bird's is still being laid.

Do we have a rooster here, you guys?

And if we do, now what?

update: yesterday 6/29/16, the chicken pooped out a mess of dark brown and green and I bent to clean it up, it had tiny whirlygig worms in it. I quickly checked the vent (maggot thinking) but it's nice and clean....and so small. I've never seen such a small vent. If the chicken is a female, the eggs would be teeny to fit through that thing. So I started Panacur for a 4 day round. And re-started the first antibiotic since there was such a good response to it.

Thanks so much!!!!
Need a better photo.

Bought from Tractor Supply, said it was a pullet. Approx 11 weeks old. Sweet & loving. This one falls asleep while ur holding it.

Just don't know what it is!!! Driving me bananas!!! Much much smaller than my other chickens purchased at the same time.

It has been about 6 weeks since you posted this, but I wanted to throw my guess in the mix. I think it is a pullet old english game bantam. Possibly a black breasted red. There are so many varieties. I have 2 that look like yours. They are very tiny and fly very well. My girls are very gentle too.
