8 & 9 are your only for sure pullets.Hey there. I have nine chickens we are trying to decipher. Ameraucanas to be sure, but of the nine, I think 5 are roosters, which make sense. Still, I figured I would ask here since they aren't the easiest for me to figure out until they are all crowing (I want to keep 1 rooster for the flock).
My guess is that 1, 2, 8, 9 are the females, with 3-7 the males, but even this I am not too sure on since most seem to have pointed feathers around the neck and decently long ones from their back.
Thanks for the help!
Cochin looks like a cockerel. Agree on the Delaware.11 week old bantam Cochin I think. Not sure on sex as we know for sure we have an 11 week old Delaware cockerel. Also have a polish crested 11 weeks old that I'm pretty positive is a pullet
This one is interesting. I am not familiar with the breed, but I am torn. Leaning toward cockerel with that red face, which I'm sure is why you posted. Post again in a week and I bet we'll know then. Or maybe someone with Marans experience will chime it.Here's another one!! 9 week old french copper maran! Purchased straight run... is this a pullet or cockerel?

Dang.. I was afraid of that. I even initially was going to say it, but I was hoping. Birds are about 3 months old, so getting close to knowing for sure. Didn't know about the dark on the wings, will need to start using that sign as well.8 & 9 are your only for sure pullets.
1 & 2 are questionable, but the combs look male to me even though they are not as red as the others. I am seeing some dark patterning developing on the wings for both. If you look at the for sure pullets, there is no dark on the wings. I expect both are cockerels. Not sure on the ages... you might want to wait and see.
And the rest are indeed cockerels. You really hit the cockerel jackpot!
Need help with my 2 buff Cochins. Pullet or cockerel? They are 8 weeks old.
