10 weeks old Jersey giant.
I'm not sure because his/her comb isn't nearly as red as my Jersey that is definitely a roo. He/she behaves more like a pullet as well.
Thoughts?
I would probably say he is a Delaware mix or a red sex link based on coloration.
Not Delawares. That explains why I was having trouble sexing them. Usually, with pure Delawares, that amount of barring indicates female. Males have distinct barring through the tail feathers. Yours are lacking that. But the comb is all male. Since the red and white was also given to you with them, and you were told they were all Delawares, it's reasonable to assume they are all Delaware crosses. Crossbreed males will appear similar to 'pure' females. If their mothers were the Delawares, that would also make them sexlinks. The person that gave you them may have know that they were all boys.
1. Cockerel. 2. Pullet 3. Could go either way but I'm thinking pullet right now.I have three Lavender Orpington chicks that I believe are right at a month old that I got from Chickenstock in NC. It is probably still too early to tell but I'm thinking two pullets (hopefully) and a cockerel. What does everyone else think?
