Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

I ordered 15 pullets from Cackle (heavy assorted pullet special) and I am pretty sure I have at least 5 cockerels. I informed the Hatchery and they said it was too soon to tell. The chicks were 4-5 weeks old when these pics were taken. I'm not sure of breeds but I know that some have got to be RIR and maybe some Buff Orps.
Production Reds. And while they do seem a bit suspect, they aren't obvious cockerels yet.

Nobody's red in the comb yet so try to be patient. I had a Speckled Sussex grow a fairly large, pink comb and a bunch of people insisted she had to be a cockerel. I've not put as much stock in comb height since then (she was all girl, after all). It's more a matter of big changes in a short span of time and the comb on a male gets very bright when it happens. The color also doesn't fade when he's calm like it will on a pullet looking pink from excitement or stress. I noticed that you're holding them for the photos which means they had to be a bit wound up. Save these pics and take another set in two weeks. If they look the same, they're pullets. ;-)
