Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Easter egger, 7 weeks. She's much smaller than my other chicks, last in the pecking order, and no comb or wattles to speak of. But the little bit of red on her wings (also some on her back and rump) gives me pause.

I have to disagree, it has more black barring than white, the barring is less defined and spotty. Looks like a pullet.

ETA:... unless it's a BSL then it's a cockerel. My "Barred Rocks" look like this, I'm gonna be P.O.ed if they all turn out to be BSL cockerels!
She has 19 other of which only 5 are suspected roos? What do the other females she have look like? That would be a good indication of whether they are BSL or BR as the sex link pullets would look nothing like a barred rock. They would be almost all black little to no barring and probably some red in there chest or around the neck. Here is a pick of my BSL pullets

and actually the male's I had a few years back had a stray red feather here and there but only a couple and that was once they were fully grown.

She didn't buy black sexlinks from a hatchery. She bought chicks from a breeder who had several kinds and she paid extra to get all pullets. 5 males so far of 19 is nowhere near the accuracy rates you'd get from a hatchery. It only takes failure to separate breeds for long enough prior to collecting hatching eggs or a fence hopping rooster to get accidental BSL cockerels from your barred Rock hens. They'll look just like barred Rock pullets right up until the male signs show up.

Red on wings is only a problem if they aren't red elsewhere. When you see a black and white chick with red on the wings, it's usually a male.

Well here are our "girls" just wanting to know your thoughts. They are 4 week old light and dark brahmas.

I have no idea if they are pullets or cockerels but just FYI you have your full name and address showing in your pictures on the label on the crate. You may want to edit to maintain your privacy..
