Okay, I'm fairly certain what I have here, but I'm really hoping I'm not right. We bought 4 chicks total, 2 Welsummers and 2 Cuckoo Marans back in late April. I'm thinking one of each breed ended up being a roo. These are my two suspects. Can anyone confirm for me? Thanks!

The Marans is a cockerel but I'd need to see the Welsummer's coloring and your image is too shadowy. The males and females are colored entirely different.

6 week old Marans. Black copper is definite cockerel, any chance the blue is a pullet?

Yes, definite cockerel on the Welsummer, too. Only the males get a black chest and his is well on its way.

Blue looks pullet to me. No dark shading in the wing, no comb development yet, and stance looks very feminine.

I'm losing sleep...are these male hackle feathers?? They are 4.5 months old. No crowing. I think i should know by now if they are boys. Right? But those feathers look really pointy...uuggh...now i know how an expectant mother feels like. Any help?

I'm still confused about this Silkie. It is 6-7 months old. Our other of the same age is obviously a rooster. This one has no eggs or cockadoodledoo.

Pic didn't post. I am hoping this breed has fast developing pullets rather than late blooming cockerels. Seems that's our choice. The only other Lorp I had looked like your other pullets... gave me nothing to worry about.

An updated pic from the other day! (S)he is still pretty salmon colored so I'm still not sure because (S)he looks nothing like my other two

Post our sugar bear a couple of times....
but sugar bear is basically fully feathered now and is 6/7weeks old now!!
