Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Hello! I decided to start another thread on helping all you back yard chicken farmers determine the sex of your chicken.
I know it can sometimes be super tricky to identify gender in chicks, so that's why we made this thread! No need to start your own thread, just hop on here and share a picture of your chick, making sure it's at least 4 weeks old before asking gender. Me and @Jetblack2004
are almost 100% on genders for chicks 4 weeks+.
So feel free to ask lots of questions regarding gender. We do NOT identify breeds, only gender. However, if anyone out there is good at identifying breeds, please let us know, we would love to have your help!

Thanks!

Don't you think it's a bit red for a female. Could be a cochin mix? None of my females are that red except the one I posted. Still unsure.. it's driving me nuts..

The comb is a bit pink, and Cochin color genetics can be a complete mess. Too many people breeding and then just kind of guessing at what colors birds are. But that golden chest is pretty female specific. The bird is also lacking red though the shoulder/wing area that a cockerel of the same coloration would have.

What about wattles? The one I'm having trouble with has a small flesh colored comb and big red wattles. All the boys the same age have huge red combs and wattles. It also has more of a female body type. I know the father was blue partridge but I have no clue what the mother was.. :(

Why don't you post a picture? Large, red wattles can also be indicative of a cockerel, and his/her comb should grow out to match it soon. How old is your chicken?

I've had similar Barnevelders in the past. They were penciled instead of laced but they shared body type and all other features. They were ordered and raised at my workplace and they occurred in multiple batches so I'm sure they came from Barny parents. They laid a nice dark egg like my other Barnies (darkest of the batch actually).
