Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Yes, but only problem is I don't want any complaints as I'm over limit for township at moment only by 2, but trying to keep a low profile. Someone called code enforcer and he sent email saying chickens were fine in my township as long as coop and run are 25ft from adjacent lot structures and no Roosters. I think they don't want noise or breeding here.

I don't live in a subdivision but still can't have roosters.

Ohhh that makes sense then. But that's what the collar is for, it significantly reduces the volume of the crowing, so they might not even hear him. Although if he hasn't started crowing yet you might still have time.

But if you have people calling the enforcer already it might not be the best idea.

Maybe you could keep him inside or at least at night.

Here are the updated pictures of my chicks! They are about 8-9weeks

8 and 9 are black copper marans
The others are EE's or Ameraucanas.
10 most certainly has a rooster attitude. He runs, stands tall and fluffs his neck feathers up at the others. He has no tail like the rest and still hasn't completely feathered out like the rest. A couple of them have started making little clucking noises instead of cheeps, but no one has crowed or attempted to crow yet.

Oops. Someone is in there twice. I suspect red#5 is a pullet. Tiniest, squeaky peep and small blackish orange comb. I also suspect she may be an olive egger.

Shereee- they are 2-3 weeks? Too young. But one of the things I look for is wing and tail feather development. Typically the boys get their tail feathers much later, so if you have the same breed and one gets nice long tail feathers and the other doesn't, that has been a good predictor for me. What breeds are these?
Oooh sorry I'm new to all this and the breeder i got them from told me they'd be 5 weeks old. The four chicks I have are:
#1- coronation large sussex
#2- buff large sussex
#3- Partridge Silkie Bantam
#4- Buff silkie bantam

Feathered legged, single combed bantams are usually Cochins. I cannot see the combs on the gold laced birds... possible they are Sebrights. One looks like a cockerel, with a thicker pinker comb.
Too young to tell gender with certainty, but the lightest buff bird has a largish comb, so most likely a cockerel.

Thank you! That is what I suspected, but was unsure of the red ones. Hoping they are all pullets.

Last night had a big storm here and the Sebrights are missing. I think I found the Roo up by the house, but couldn't catch him. Hoping he will find his way back to the pen. Sad to have lost the Sebright pullet, but maybe she will turn up.

I walked around with the buff roo and listened for return squawking, lol.

Going to bring the boys up to trade day this weekend or next depending on if I can get the Sebright caught, and see if I can give them away.

These guys are 8 weeks old. The tail feathers are making me think roo for the lighter ones? Any idea? The one with the white head I'd a rooster. His name is chomp.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure those are all Roos based of the comb color and size and if they are barred rocks, the coloring. Males appear lighter and females have more black than white coloring.

Hope you find her!

They are all 7-8 weeks old. They are straight run Ameraucanas from TSC. I would love input as to whether they are male or female.

#1 ...the runt. I'm not sure why this one hasn't feathered out yet.
