A different species' noises might scare him. Best bet is to find another hen, ASAP. Anything on your local Craigslist?

I'll look, but I sincerely doubt it.. as far as I know, I was the first to introduce buttonquail to this area.

I can't hatch, because I don't have an incubator, and it is extremely hard to sell them here... Also, most buttonquail will kill younger buttons, there are none on Craigslist, but I emailed a few people on cyberquail.

I wouldn't think so and I'd be a little afraid to try it due to the size difference but there's a chance I guess? Would NOT put him with a male coturnix, he will just get bred to death, but maybe if you can find a really laid back hen. Some of mine can be real pieces of work!
