November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

Just finished my day 7 candling and am fairly pleased. Out of 40 eggs, I had 1 blood ring, 1 possible blood ring, and a couple with no veining but the majority look great! I can see the embryo and veins in almost all of them and even a little movement in a few! VERY stoked that all 3 of my laced Cochin eggs are doing very well. If it keeps going like this, I'm in for a great hatch.

ok so now rhere are over 7 doz eggs in my incubators.....since all hatching is done until oct 8th. we put more eggs in there to grow until then... i think my egg supplyer is liveing vicariously thru me since her family wont let her hatch more chicks...
love the idea of all these fuzzy butts. but since my bators seem to work rather well.. im kinda scared at the prospect of 7doz chicks!!!! wth will i do with them..lol but on the bright side i should have fair odds of getting a few hens out of it. i mean not all of them can hatch out to be roosters right??

Little ducky coming along! I've been talking to it as it comes along and I've been calling it a little peanut, so if it makes it all the way I'll have to name it Peanut :)

I have some candling pics. Not too exciting at day 3 but here's my three "eggies"...

Eggberta numero uno... there is some veining you may be able to see towards the mid-upper left of the egg

Eggberta dos.. can't see much by the pics bc of the shell but there's a dark glob of something in there
400

Eggberta numba three. .. similar to number one but not so much veining at this point....
400

I like this last one bc you can see the air sac at the top of the egg and the dividing line behind it..

Ps don't mind my pencil lines. They are not cracked just marked :)

Do these look viable to you guys at this point? Tomorrow starts day four.

Thanks!!

oh I'm sorry the picture above yours is a duck egg! my husband was trying to tell me once upon a time that he didn't like the idea of ducks because he didn't like the idea of a duck pond of any kind to deal with...I have 4 ducks!! and next year I'll add geese, peafowl and at least 1 turkey!!

I cannot wait for ducks. Maybe getting a few pheasants and maybe a peafowl as well. He told me today he likes the idea of one dwarf pig and one dwarf goat instead of ducks.... Oh, I'm sure by the time Im done, well have all of it

Have you picked a breed of duck yet? I'm partial to welshies, but that's why I breed them :p
