November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

Ok so no progress since 11 am. I'm starting to get antsy here. Out of the 6 eggs I set only 2 came this far. They are a pale cream colored egg with Cayuga inside so I can see their outline perfectly but no movements for a while now. How long do I wait before I attempt to help?
I'm assuming you mean it pipped and hasn't done much since....after it pips it will be up to 36 hours before it's ready to hatch....they pip so they can get fresh air not because they are ready to hatch...it's absorbing blood and it's yolk....sit on your hands

I think I'll take a break from hatching Muscovie's for a while; it's way to stressful.

Just thought id jump in! Here's a pic of my sept babies starting to feather out. I also have a white, black, and porcelain Silkie along with the two lavender AMs.
Currently have 7 lavenders in the bator with a bunch of others I'm hatching for a friend
400

I gotta a little boy and girl :D awesome how big the distinction in comb size/color

Busy day! Picked up a splash Isbar pullet from my friend Heather of The Old Farm House. At least I HOPE its a pullet about at the POL... when I got "her" home she was doing the chirp that my roos do to point out the treats to the ladies... and she was alone with her food. Many people are having trouble sexing the Isbars correctly till they are laying. I bought 2 pairs a few months ago and recently realized only one chicken was a pullet. My other friend that I got them from also had come to realize nearly all of hers were actually roos. So now I think I have a splash pullet, black pullet, and three blue roos. I also hatched one that looks like a splash baby. I built a new coop for her today so she didn't have to do quarantine in my living room :D And I have 3 hatched and all the rest pipped from the current batch of eggs. The last I assisted during zip. He'd been trying all day to zip and then I saw yellow foam coming from the egg. I took the top off and cleaned him up. He was covered with yellow slime but seems OK. Naval was closed and belly full so maybe that was just extra albumin?? It wasn't an unusually large egg and the chick looks normal size... so no clue. Bathed him, checked naval, applied iodine just to be safe and put him back in the bator to dry off.

Make that 4 hatched - another zipped in the time it took me to type that, LOL!

Thanks, that's really what I needed to hear. Hubby says I'm to impatient. Lol. Yes, it pipped. I was just worried because I watched through the window for some time and there were no movements. Just wanted to make sure that was normal.. I've only hatch 2 batches of chickens, small batches at that. They all pipped and zipped within 30 minutes. These are my first ducks and since there are only 2, I want to make sure they are ok

So the last of the eggs set on 9-11 have hatched - another 100% hatch. One of the 9-12 eggs already hatched too and the last 3 of the 9-12 eggs are pipped. One of those is an experimental Marans egg that had been in the fridge for 2 weeks when it was set. Just wanted to see how it went. As of now it is pipped - so far so good.
