November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

I ordered a coop on Ebay. Max and I have been painting it all night. Max supervised and tasted the paint and I painted. Max had so much fun running around, in and out of the doors and windows. Max's beak is covered in paint and I have little Max foot prints on the rug and dog pillow.

Well I am happy to report that out of the 15 eggs I set on the 20th, I only had 2 clears and one early quitter. The one egg with the air cell at the bottom and the embryo at the top has fixed itself and is going strong! I'm not sure how it worked, but I'm glad it did, because I really didn't think it was going to make it. I've had a much better time with this hatch, with no crazy temp spikes and no humidity issues as of late. Even my one buckeye mix egg (laid by a 5 year old buckeye) is doing great! We have left the bator in good hands and are on our way south to VA to get married tomorrow morning and then we spend a week at a cabin in the mountains of NC, and home in time for lockdown!

Hi everyone! I have been reading this thread and can't leave my chair. I am afraid someone's chicks will hatch and I won't be here to see them! I tried my first hatch ever (game chickens) in September and out of 13 eggs (had 14 but dropped one putting it in the bator) I went into lockdown with 8 and hatched 7 on the 12th of this month. They are in the house in a brooder box on my freezer. I don't know how it happened but my incubator has 36 eggs inside it and it is day 3. What was I thinking?! I am chicken obsessed! Hoping everyone here has great hatches and I'm so sorry for the losses you have had. Can I hang out and share your hatch dates until mine gets close?

What do you use to clean your incubator between hatches? I use bleach water, but since you can't scrub or wipe it down very well I was just wondering if there was anything better.
