November Hatch-a-long...

Pics
I candled my eggs... 3 of the 4 local farm eggs look good. 1 looks iffy, but I'll check it tomorrow. I have zero issues chucking bad eggs. 10 out of 10 of my fertile eggs from my layer flock are developing. I was hoping the local farm eggs would give me more variety to choose pullets, but I bet they'll all be Cockerels anyways.

well the FBCM hatch for me is over. I ended up with 7, only one never developed and the other 8, well, strange thing, they all were fully formed but dead. then it hit me as i opened each egg, each of them when they tried to pip were at the wrong end. they drowned before they could get their first breath.

I have 1 ccl egg going into lockdown tomorrow

Well...9 so far fluffed and dry. 2 in the bator plus last four eggs pipped. I removed one last night as it was the only one not pipped and had shown no movement in 3 days or more. None last night either. Air cell actually appeared yellow.

So sorry. :hugs

Well, two more eggs into my hatcher! Given how they looked when I candled them (these are the eggs I wasn't sure of the age on, so I've been candling pretty frequently) I'm hoping for internal pips by the time I get home from work tonight. These eggs need to get a move-on though, the big clutch of 11 are due to go into lockdown on Tuesday....

Lol I hate that! Waiting on the lil boogers to finish up. But not like you could predict perfectly being that gestation time was in question. Glad they are progressing well :)

My hatch has been successful. I set 17 eggs (twins in one). Got rid of one who quit developing and as kind of expected, lost the twins. Probably because I didn’t intervene sooner :.( All together 15 happy fluffballs were hatched of the 16 single eggs :) not 100% like my chicken hatch last month but great rate nonetheless!
I lost my twins too. It's because I waited too long as well :hugs

You don’t want to jump in unless it’s necessary but...I guess knowing when is a fine line. In hindsight, I might have assumed they would run out of room and hatch earlier than later. But I figured more that they would be delayed due to space and such. I really should not have set the double egg but I had it in the bator before I learned enough to know better and...couldn’t just kill them once they started :/

sorry you lost yours too. always feels crummy to lose live chicks.
