November Hatch-a-long...

Pics
My first ever candling on my first hatch. Day seven. Of eight eggs, I think five are developing. The first picture is of the three that I'm sure aren't developing. No vascular system.

The ones that are developing look like they're just building on one side. There's no air sac at the top like I expected. It's like it's the whole horizontal side? They're in an egg turner, but, I'm wondering if maybe because they're bantam eggs, they aren't getting turned enough?

The turner is working, because the arm is at different angles when I check. Should I try turning the eggs every so often myself?
The 1st one looks like nothing but the other two look more promising. I’d keep at least those 2 until someone with more experience pops in.

so on day 22. 4 in the brooder, though one does not look that good, though it is fighting to survive, so we will see.

I have 2 pipped, beaks moving in and out of the tiny hole they made and 3 were wobbling last night but not moving this morning. if these five actually do something that will bring me to a respectable 70% hatch rate for shipped eggs and being 5300 feet above sea level.

One out, one drying in the bator and two more trying to hatch. All three non Pekins died. So looks like 4 out of 7.

Awe! And awe :(

You are right...ducks hatch soooo slow! Ugh! 2+days ago one of my 17 pipped. A pretty large pip...lot of cracks and membrane exposed. Then did nothing for more than 48 hours. Peeping stopped. I snuck it out and popped a bit of shell off and as I suspected, very dry membranes. But baby responded to the activity and I found that cute lil beak so I moistened membranes and replaced the egg. With a little help again later and again back in the bator half hatched, I woke up 4 hours later to a happy lil duckling and one more zipping. All but 4 and the twins have been pipped now 36+ hours. 2 look like starting to zip.

One of the two still in the bator was first to pip. I made a hole so I could see if he was malpositioned. He isn't but still chewing and yawning so not ready to come out yet. I had several malpositioned eggs from this duck drake paring so I made a little hole in each egg so I could see their bills.

I candles for day 10 yesterday and all of the eggs seemed to be developing except for one that we weren’t sure about. The questionable ones from a couple days ago are in fact developing. The only problem I’m having is that some of the air cells aren’t that great. Some of them are like spot on where they are supposed to be and then others look too large. Any suggestions?

I've noticed with the Nurture Right, I can keep the humidity up to 69 or so for hatching and when an egg zips the humidity spikes to 74 or 75. works well if I don't see any obvious pips or zips to let me know another is on the way.

So far I have 6 in the brooder and one zipping and now the humidity is spiking again. I might actually have more than 7, though these eggs are sure taking their sweet time in hatching.
