November Hatch -- Who's going to have late fall babies?

Beautiful babies!

Getting antsy over here. Not much longer here! I keep staring into the incubator. Doesn't seem to be helping move time along.


Everything is ready except sanitizing a couple of water dishes & putting a light over the hospital brooder (just in case). I'll do those tomorrow.

The main brooder has been up and running for two days so that I can monitor the temperature. The second brooder has two compartments. I could set up two isolation chambers if needed, but there should be no need with only 10 eggs left!

Yesterday a FOURTH chick hatched, and I never even saw the pip in the egg! It's true I was busy outside working on the shed construction project, but it still startled me when I went to check on the two little goobers inside the 'bator and found a third one with 'em. (First chick is already in the brooder with other chicks a whole week older.)

So, don't chuck out "late" eggs for at least two, maybe 3 days past hatch date!

I have FOUR bantam Barnevelder chicks now! Out of 9 eggs - and I was happy when I only thought I had just one!!

I can't believe mine go to "lockdown" in 2 days! Time flies if you don't think about your eggs too much. LOL --yeah good luck with that!

Fortunetly, Im going into lockdown tomorrow morning! Cant wait ! I hope i do everything right! first timer!!!
