NY chicken lover!!!!

Lol....Muppets! I love it. They do look like muppets. The babies took forever the dry and we ended up losing one, so we only had 2. The blue is from Isabel and the splash is from Ingrid.
Also, someone in my white pen layed an egg today....they are all young in that pen, so imagine my surprise. I usually don't check their nest boxes because they are so young, but I felt like I need to today. Hoping its fertile.

Sooo Cute!!! I really hope I'm successful with getting some chicks from my hens next Spring.

Adorava--nice babies!

So once again I had to bury a loved one. This time it was our 13 year old chocolate lab named Boomer. He went downhill fast and we had to go to the clinic and put him down. Finally got him buried in his favorite spot. Boomer was a lot like the dog in Marley and Me...he had a huge heart, loved everyone including the chickens and would also get into everything. He made us laugh, aggravated, angry sometimes but he was, above all, my girls best friend and confidant. He will be missed.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. We had a similar experience a few weeks ago with the passing of our 13yo black lab. We miss her very much. :(

pharmchickrnmom, littlecritters, I truly am so sorry to hear of your losses... there is nothing "quieter" than a house that doesn't have it's dog anymore. I can't stand it myself... the few weeks I've had to endure waiting for the new pup is torture. you can't replace them, but you can love on the new one and remember... for me, it's the only remedy.

Can anyone tell me the proceedure for brining chickens to the show to sell ?

Quote: I was advised to give powder milk sprinkled on feed for chicks with coccidia. Something about the milk does something to the cocc and kills iti.

Humans are the only animal species that drink milk & eats milk products after weaning...so based on that, milk for humans after weaning is also not natural...especially milk not from our mothers.

Chickens are omnivors, they can eat everything...years ago, farmers would fed excess milk from their cows to their chicks during the winter when they couldn't find bugs, etc. to eat. They survived.
It is Interesting that I was told the same thing about powdered milk by a silkie breeder. I also saw it somewhere here on BYC.
