NY chicken lover!!!!

What do you all do with the duck eggs?? Do you cook them a different way than chicken eggs? Use them for anything special? Are they better tasting than chicken eggs?? This was another thing I was pondering as I keep thinking of getting a trio of them. My husband loves the chickens' eggs, I can try to convince him by telling him about these duck eggs...he's in the food business so he loves trying new things.

Duck eggs are richer-tasting than chicken eggs, if that makes sense - they're, well, eggier. I love them, but they weird my husband out a bit for straight eating. He likes them for cooking, though. He also has friends who go nuts for them, so I have a market. The duckeh hens are out of lay right now. Their fans are heartbroken!

Yep, definitely richer. Used for baking, the results are out of this world. Rich tasting, moist and delicious. I never use chicken eggs for baking anymore

I don't know if I could bring myself to eating one. I'm not a big fan of eggs myself - the only way I eat them is scrambled. My husband makes omelets, sunny side up, scrambled, deviled eggs, etc. So I would be curious as to what he would create with duck eggs.

we eat them just like chicken eggs. Richer is indeed a good description. We sell some also and I get $1 more for the duck eggs with weekly customers. Duck eggs in the food industry are known for baking. They are fantastic in any baking recipe. And even better 9 out of 10 times when you let the duckers out in the morning they are already done laying. None of this all day nonsense as with chickens

How come my TSC never has these kinds of sales. I was there today and they had two KC's left but a bunch of Pekins. No sale here. It's probably just as well.

I shouldn't have gone...

Adorable!

And nice meeting you the other day! Enjoy your new duckies.

Nice meeting you too! Thanks, we will.

I'm resisting the temptation to go down there and see if they're selling off the KCs that are left, as I know I'd say "load 'em up."

If I had to choose between raising chickens and raising ducks, the ducks would win wings down. Ducks rock.

I plan on eating and hatching. It's what I do best!

Teehee!

I am going to be selling our B/B splash Americaunas. There is a black rooster, 3 black hens and a blue hen. All are 1 year old this spring. I also have 5 chicks that are 2+ weeks old and I was told they are Americaunas as well. They were a science fair project and the eggs were bought from MPC. AND, after Easter I will have more chicks available. Make me an offer!!

I've said exactly the same many times. If I couldn't have both, I would just have duckers.

.

I shouldn't ask, as to thwart any potential future obsessions

, but "why?" Obviously, there is the ridiculous off-the-charts CUTENESS FACTOR. But what else would make you choose ducks? What's their personality like?

* Just read the praises on duck eggs after I posted this question, so obviously, that is one reason!
