NY chicken lover!!!!

This is why I keep my old girls. Ari, a 7? Year old EE lays an occasional egg still. Only they are HUGE! She laid 2 eggs within this past week.

really? I didn't get that. I'll have to ask/talk to my father. He worked there 30 plus years. It broke his heart to see the towers get taken down.
I take that back. It was in my junk mail folder. Closing at the end of the month. Such is the state of NY's economy. Can't do business here. Sad. I think they opened in 71, used to make their own feed and deliver it as far away as NH and LongIsland. Very sad.

I'm trying to find some Silkies for future broody hens. If anyone has or knows someone who's selling Silkie adults, chicks or hatching eggs, please PM me.
I'm not ordering from a hatchery this year, so I can't just add a few to my order. We have a TSC nearby, but they usually don't have Silkies.

Thanks.

Two days in a row now I have found one egg on the floor of the coop. My hens have always laid in the nesting boxes so I am confused

Anyways I wanted to say thank you to Rancher for the chicks and also the kind words

Where are you in upstate NY? The TSCs in both Granville and Glens Falls got in HUGE shipments of silkies last week, and I know for a fact that the granville TSC still has one in the bantam bin today. The one in glens falls/queensbury may still have some too.

Here is a pic of the red rooster my friend is looking to adopt out. I won't put his mug on here any more nor further plead his case, but she emailed me the pic tonight, so I thought I'd wrap up by posting it.

The White Leghorn will be happy with Mderby's Leghorn Ladies!

Good night, everyone!

Wow, I am so happy to say that not only did Mderby and her nice hubby take the handsome White Leghorn off my frazzled friend's hands, but they also took this dapper RIR rooster.

THANK YOU to the Derby's on behalf of my friend, Barb. She is just over the moon with relief that her roos are going to a nice home. Now her little Americauna hen can get a chance to grow some feathers back!

My husband is a sucker for Roosters ;) Lol. I have 30 hens and now 3 roosters so there is plenty to go around!

Well, it sounds like it worked out for everyone -- these roosters will not believe their good fortune. A veritable HAREM compared to the single hen they fought over.
