NY chicken lover!!!!

Stony only a good mother can accept the weirdness in their children! She's looking good and so are the babies!

Rancher I got a little excited there for a minute, thinking you would be getting rid of some barred rocks lol!

Breella It's still looking like a pullet. But I'm going based off my experience with sex links. Is this a leghorn n Plymouth cross?

Lynzi I wish you the best, I've never hatched eggs before so I have not a clue.

I think I have success moving Blondie to the brooder in the garage. Yay!!!
At first she just stood in there and looked at the eggs... for about 2 hours. She's in the brooder, but I had made her a nest inside a box turned sideways. Turns out she didn't like the box. I moved the eggs just outside the box and went to dinner. When we came home she was sitting. I gave her 4 more eggs for a total of 7.
Blackie is still on her 1 egg. 5 more days till hatch, I hope!

I dont know what breeds. Came from TSC and the girls didn't know the hatchery when I asked.

I do. They got their chicks from Mt. Healthy. Don't ask me how I know.

Well I do have two new roos that look promising so there may be chicks in the future but I doubt this year. Too late to hatch. That's why no one will be getting to sit on eggs.

Breella is your lil one making noises? My son was worried too when one developed a larger redder comb, but at 16 Weeks we have no crows, odd noises but no crowing. So at best only time will tell. Do you have more from that hatch? I have six but 5 are all white and one has slight color like a few freckles down her back.

mama chicken just accepting that her "chicks" are weird
How old, typically, do chicks/ducks become when the hen decides they are on their own? I have absolutely no luck at all with broody hens. It has been their first year but every single one has killed any chick that hatches. I only found 2 in time. Hopefully next year and I'll have a better set up so they aren't up so high.
