NY chicken lover!!!!

lol. They are quite adorable. I went to the PO to ship 2 boxes of Runner hatching eggs and the postmaster who is also a friend asked me if I knew anyone who wanted them. They hatched them under a Guinnea. I of course said I would take them. I just need to set a fenced in area for them and clean out the Runners old coop. Otherwise I would be heading out now to get them

I finally took the chance and let mine out to free range this weekend. They've been out every day since Saturday. And come to find out they don't hate me. LOL They come around if we let them be. Which I'm trying to teach kids - to just let them be! So they get used to us like the chickens had to. My son was teaching them to golf this weekend...

Breella your babies are adorable.

Stony well congrats on your so new arrivals.

Lynzi I'm glad the ducks are doing well.

So my silkie coop is a make shift coop because my other chickens were just too rough with them and that's when we had the very sick silkie. So nice people did give me a free run and a coop which I put together but ugh it's a pain to clean and get in I make my son do it. Well Now that silkies are all healthy we put the three remaining younger chicks that survived in with them and they are all getting along and do great. But I'm finding silkie eggs everywhere and surprisingly not a single one cracked or broken. I understand why but still it's just insane, I have plans to refurbish the coop so it is a lot easier to access and hopefully I can make them a better area to lay their eggs.

Then my white silkie today found some muddy sand and had herself such a wonderful dust bath. All clean now that she's brown LOL.

I have eggs going into lockdown on Wednesday. I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to candle the whole time, plus I go to bed before it gets dark. They're in a hovabator with automatic turner so they should be fine and I'll just have to stay up late Wednesday to candle and put them into lock down. Well good night everyone.

I made a to do list today but of course didn't get every thing done. Rained some and there was hail. I did manage to clean both half hoops. They were so easy. Nice, dry and dusty. Not like the wooden coop that is next.

I'm so frustrated with these two EE hens. They just will not break. No eggs under them but they won't give up.

Stupid rabbits everywhere. I keep chasing them away.

I noticed one of the Blk orp roo is missing the tip of one of his toes. Don't know how that happened and he's not bleeding or anything. Just his nail I guess.

Lynzii - met a woman from Lafayette today in TSC. Says the call her the "Zoo lady". Seemed very nice. Has a menagerie of animals. Gave her my card and invited her to join us. I write backyardchickens. com on the back of my cards. Next time I have some printed I'll have it printed on there. If you need some eggs your know where I am. Just pm me and we can set up a time to pick them up.

The only thing on my to do list for tomorrow is to survive the day. There are quite a few people with appointments and I have to figure out how to get them all there and back in a reasonable time.

I do see a need for visiting doctors to these retirement homes.

Thanks Rancher! I appreciate that. If I get nowhere with the eggs outside (hatch day is tomorrow for them) by end of this week maybe I'll bring you up on that offer. Just wish I had a few more in the bator rather than just the two. One of my problems could have been that I did not use a hygrometer. Never got around to picking one up but someone mentioned placing a bowl of water in there or a wet sponge so I did. Just kills me that eggs were alive up until lockdown. So to me, it couldn't have been humidity alone knowing it was fine for the first 18 days enough to keep them alive. I don't know, hopefully something happens tomorrow or the next with Stella's eggs. Just curious as to what is going to come of these pairings - the blue lav split and the splash.

Got the ducks locked up a little earlier tonight. Last night I was out there until 9 trying to get them in their coop. Got eaten alive by the mosquitos! Won't let that happen again. I'm nervous about the weekend I go away. My husband will caring for everyone while I'm gone. Don't see him being able to get them back into their house. I'm gonna have to figure something out so their confined and can't get loose.

It could have been the humidity in that they drowned. If it's too high. Still the offer stands.

I almost ran over two of them in front of your house on Sunday morning coming home from work! Silly Rabbits.

What do you mean almost. For heavens sake run them over! I have a garden to grow. I may put carrots in the road.

The bunnies are so cute I've thought of building hutch and catching them and putting them in it.

I agree with Rancher, they probably drowned. I got a thing that monitors temp and humidity for $8 from wal mart. VERY handy tool IMO.

Edit note, I think I remember you saying this was in a store bought bator, if it didn't come with a hydrometer they make ones that have probes on them, something like this maybe?
