Too funny, Rancher. Seriously, it was a great recipe and I know you like to cook. You would love it. It's not overly "pumpkiny!"

I've been reading up on breeds and may just get rid of my orps for another endangered breed. I do like the Brown leghorns though they are high strung. I do expect to hatch and keep more Columbian Rocks on the place too.

I'm not overly fond of white birds but if I keep them closer to the house I expect they'll be okay.

Browns are not so easily spotted. Of course it will mean finding the true heritage lines too. I'd like to keep at least 12 of each with two roosters.

Rancher, did you ever consider Buckeyes? I might like to consider them if I ever do increase my flock size. (Jlaw, you stay away from me, you enabler!!!!!!

Would love to put up a picture ofmy hen with spurs, but am technologically challenged. My old camera worked with Picassa on my pc. The new camera refuses to go to Picassa, so I load the pictures to the IPad. Where they stay. I can put them on Facebook, but somehow can't get them to this site. It asks for URL numbers, and this does thumbnails...

But I will go take her picture in case I suddenly get smarter.

Glass, if you know how to email me the pics, I can post them for you on BYC, although it really is quite easy. That being from someone who is a tech moron (me)!

When you want to post a pic click on the pic thumbnail above then click upload from device.
400

It will then ask you take photo or upload from your device. Choose upload from your device and it will show you your photos on iPad. Then click on the one you want to upload. It will got back to upload screen. In about a minute or less you will see
400
then just click submit. You will hen see a long text with IMG at beginning and end. That's your picture. You can upload as many pics as you want. When you click submit your pictures will show up.

Hope that helps

Armorfirelady, thank you, but when I go to the reply box and select the mountain button it wants a URL number, it doesn't take me to my photo library to choose. If I start in the photo library, it doesnt give me an option to go to BYC. I think you may have a newer and smarter iPad. Mine doesn't have a camera, it may be the first generation.

But, I have discovered that I can email! So, TOB, I'll take you up on your offer. Do you want to pm me your address?

As a matter of fact I have. Being limited to how many and what I can keep I've had to choose. If I lived in a land far, far away from everyone I'd not have a problem. Unfortunately there are a lot of older breeds being outed by the new colors and varieties. Many choose the commercial breeds such as the sex links. Too many can not keep as many as they'd like.

Donovan came today. Of course we think he's beautiful

Funny story is that His parents weren't so sure about them having kids, then his father says to them the other day, so are you having 5 ? DD is not up to that I'm sure since she has to have a C section and was taken to the hospital twice this time.
Congrats Grandpa!

My BO hen has spurs as well! I noticed them about a week before she started laying. They are definitely getting bigger.

AND, after what feels like forever (1ish weeks) I got an egg today!

Evening Everyone!
that was some crazy weather we had here today! Maybe thats the norm for these parts but I don't remember getting snow this early last year. I actually woke up at the crack of dawn today, woke my son up, fed him breakfast, and while he was in the shower I went to check the school lunch menu only to find out there was no school today due to parent/teacher conferences! Mine isn't until Tues so I didn't think anything of it, especially since it didn't say "No school" on the regular school calender that they send home. Owell, since we were up early I decided to get out early and get some shopping done and took the kids to lunch. So it was a fun day.

Chickens were in and out of their coop all day. They didn't know what to make of this weather. Need to hit the feed store tomorrow for some more rabbit food and I'm thinking about stocking up on some shavings while I'm there. I pulled all the water bottles from the rabbit cages and gave them glass crocks (bottoms of glass bottles that I cut) to use for water, placed the water bottles on the silkie coop and they actually figured out how to use it! What do you know, there is hope for those aliens!

Rancher ~ Congrats on the new Grand Baby!!!

Everyone is snuggled under the coop to keep warm!

I kinda wish that my girls would slow down!..I can't even seem to give the eggs away. We got 6 out of 9 this morning. That makes almost 6 dozen in the fridge. The girls will get a dozen this afternoon, we're having scrambled eggs for lunch, and I'm going to hard boil another dozen for lunch tomorrow and some pickled eggs... Anyone need some eggs?!

Beat the bushes for egg customers !
Give some to neighbors or put some on Crags list ?
